I think you need to narrow down the location and type of dwelling a bit more! Are you looking for an exotic beachfront mansion next to the Movie Stars... or something in a poor neighborhood of Mexico City... or something rural... or ?

Well, What about a single family home with 3 bedrooms? It needn't be near the seaside, in fact away form large bodies fo water would be safer!

You can get a beach front home from around 25, 000 and a beach from studio apartment for 50, 000

My aunt recently purchased a three bedroom home in front of the beach for $30, 000.

$30, 000.00 isn't half bad! I wonder if things will change as the world's economy slows, which it probably will during the next couple of years.

Wow, Mexico homes are pretty cheap. In Europe are at least thrice those values...

Where I live you would not think to find a home for that price. Even little double wide podunk trailers average over $100, 000. >Ouch<

The only big issues I have center on what daily life would be like. I would hate to leave the USA only to find a more repressive government and more people with prejudices against Afro-Americans.It is bad enough here.

I quess I cannot help you with prices, since you are not wanting to be near water! (I live in Mazatlan) I can tell you, at least here in Maz., I have not noticed any prejudices, and I know afro-americans here, homosexuals, etc that live here!
