I know it is not really a sport at least I do not know if it is. Do they still dive off the cliffs in Acapulco?

Comment #1 George from El Paso, Texas (Contact Member) -

How about Kitesurfing? Is there good kitsurfing action in Acapulco?

Comment #2 ken Watkins from Ohio (Contact Member) -

What exactly is kitesurfing never heard of that. Seems kind of dangerous to me. Have you done this before?

Comment #3 George from El Paso, Texas (Contact Member) -

Well, I haven't done it.. yet... but here's a page (in Spanish) that talks about kit surfing in San Andres, Colombia...

You can get the idea from the photos whether you understand the Spanish or not!

I would do both. Cliff diving and kite surfing.

I have jumped cliffs before - it was exhilarating.

Is kite surfing like hang gliding but tethered to a speed boat or am I thinking of the wrong thing?

I don't know if they still do, but I bet there are other areas that allow cliff diving. I love cliff diving.

Cliff diving is awesome; dangerous, but awesome! I saw some of it on my trip to Mexico several years ago. You definitely hold your breath while watching, and what a view! Wow!

I would choose kite surfing that cliff diving. Its much more safer and fun at the same time.

both sound really fun.. but i think i would back out because it all seems to scary when i really think about it.. do you have pictures or videos you can share?

I am guessing that cliff diving is a pretty big sport in Mexico. If I wanted to do this when I go to Mexico for spring break, would I be able to? Do they offer classes and things so I could do this while I am here on vacation.

Freestyle cliff divers gracefully launch themselves off La Quebrada every year on 12 December, the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe. Piercing the sea below in an impossibly narrow inlet, the divers pay homage to Mexico's patron saint.

The dives range from the simple to the hair-raising that make your insides curdle, some of these involving torches of fire. The most impressive is the famous "Ocean of Fire". The sea is lit with gasoline, making a circle of flames into which the diver has to skilfully land or be singed to a crisp.

This site is for cliff diving aficionado

Hi friends! Very interesting. I love diving... I have heard of people jumping in pairs, the first one has the parachute, you jump after him and overtake him in mid air, then he passes the Chute to you and you put it on and pull the string. Any takers?

Cliff diving? That seems dangerous but exciting nonetheless. However, foe the height phobics like me, it would take time to get used to the idea of jumping off cliffs.

Kite surfing looks both intriguing and strange to me but a combination of both does not sound bad.

Cliff divers are much in number in Acapulco and this seems to be a major sport in the place. Diving as a whole is popular as a non-competing activity.

Kite surfing is getting popular nowadays for those daredevils who just can't get enough of what is available form of sport they have now. They keep on seeking ways to make their hobby to the extent of whoooaaa...

However, minding all those death defying extreme sports makes me want to shout, i fear for those who jumps up the cliff and imagine how they feel while falling, my gosh i can't imagine myself in that way.

Comment #14 Grant (63.176.159.38) - 11/14/09 23:39

Besides Kite surfing there is also one wind recreational activity. I am referring to paragliding, but just what is paragliding?

Paragliding is a recreational and competitive flying sport. A paraglider is a free-flying, foot-launched aircraft. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing, whose shape is formed by its suspension lines and the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing.

Kitesurfing seems to be some pretty intense stuff. I cannot imagine what would have me into such a sport.

Comment #17 Cornelia sykes (63.176.159.37) - 12/30/09 19:22

Can you share some local videos featuring paragliding and kite surfing. It could also be your chance to promote your city, your skills, your blog, or anything. Home you can share some links here at the forums. Thanks from the land down under.

Comment #18 Ivy (63.176.159.20) - 01/31/10 20:06

"Home you can share some links here at forums" Hmmmmm... Do you mean to say "Hope you can share some links here at forums?"

Anyway back to your concern, have you tried youtube? You can just go to the site and type paragliding and kite surfing, I bet you can get lots of good information there Cornelia Sykes.

Good luck and enjoy viewing paragliding and kite surfing. have a good day.

Comment #19 Luisa (62.229.68.127) - 02/22/10 22:01

Yeah, there are indeed lots of uploaded videos there and you might want to consider looking there. I bet there are great videos there that you can try to look at. I am also fascinated by those daredevils that tries probably all of those extreme sports. But I am better off watching them only and I would not dare trying those sports. Have a great day guys and just keep us updated here.
