Has anyone heard that they want to tear down the 70-year old bullring in TJ - and that preservationists are now fighting to preserve it?
Comment #1 Orrymain from Mont Royal (Contact Member) -
If they fought bulls there, I'm all for tearing it down. Okay, I don't really know much about it, but I'm anti-bullfighting 100% and anything associated with it.

If they "fought" the bulls the way the French do it, Orrymain wouldn't be against it... :)In Provance, a ribbon is tied between the bulls' blunted horns. There are several men in the ring holding a small hook in one hand that is no bigger than their finger. The object is to approach the bull and hook the ribbon from between its horns and get away without being trampled. There are no knives or swords and the bull always sleeps in his pen after as big meal the night of the "fight". Leave it to the French. If the ring/arena is historic - it should be saved as it can be used for other events and meetings. Eyes4

I don't care whether its history or not. Some things are not meant to be preserve and especially if it concerns about lives of any creature and beings. So eyes, if what you are saying his true about preserving history, then we should go to another world war again because it has been a part of history? I don't think so. WE are no Roman empire so why do we enjoy a "gladiator"-style entertainment?

Of course it should be preserved and we should know about it. If we just pretend it didn't happen and edit it out of the history books... well... we'll be more likely to repeat it!

Who said that it will be removed in history books? It is just going to be levelled down but its "rich and colorful" history of animal slaughter and insensitivity will still be remembered in books, so don't worry sadistic Tom.

That's why there are books and the new forms of media like the internet (wiki engines and websites), to keep track and preserve history through information. If it is really in need of breaking the thing apart then by all means they should tear it down. It is not really the nicest place anyways. Take Drake here for instance, an animal lover who do not want a slaughter house which will remind him of the torture of those animals. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
